Edited by Frances Crewe. First published in 1782 (q.v.). The facsimile letter is Laurence Sterne's reply to Sancho's letter of July 1766, first published in Sterne's Letters, 1775 (q.v.). The frontispiece portrait is by Francis Bartolozzi after Gainsborough, and the added engraved title-plate vignette (also by Bartolozzi and dated '1802') incorporates the frontispiece medallion from vol. I. of the 1782 edition.

Binding Early C19th sprinkled calf, gilt-tooled spine, black morocco spine-label.
