The 'Author Of The Clergyman's Widow, ...' = Barbara Hofland. Barbara Volume II with the colophon imprint of J. Moyes, printer. Hofland was a poet, children's writer and novelist who became a friend of the Soanes. See Dennis Butts, Mistress of our tears (Aldershot 1992), pp. 61--62, no.11.

Copy Notes Rebound retaining the original front free-endpaper, inscribed in ink John Soane Esq. / With Mr. Moyes's most respectful / compliments and 1813.

Binding Later C19th half purple calf, blind-tooled borders, marbled-paper boards, gilt double-ruled spines, red morocco spine-labels. Bound by George Richmond for 3s., 20 May 1853. (Curatorial Papers/Bailey/Parcel 1).
