Dated on p. 208: 'London, 2d of Aug. A.D. 1789'. Levi's Letters to Dr. Priestley, which had appeared earlier in 1789, provoking a many-sided controversy amongst the Christian divines, had themselves been issued in response to Priestley's Letters to the Jews first published in 1786. A second epistle was published in Beere's A dissertation on the ... 8th chapter of Daniel in 1790 (q.v.). ESTC t144362.
