Anonymous. 'A Member of the Athenian Society' = John Dunton. (See A. Nicoll, A history of English drama, 1660--1900, 1961, 1, p. 408.) Mainly social satire, in the form of dialogues between souls prior to their coming into human bodies. The Athenian Society, formed by Dunton with Richard Sault and Samuel Wesley, the elder, published the Athenian Gazette, subsequently entitled the Athenian Mercury between 1691 and 1696 (q.v.). Leaf A4 contains 'Proposals for Printing a Book, Entituled, The young Students Library; ...' (cf. ESTC r182175). Wing D2634; ESTC r18582.
