Translator's dedication signed: W.K.B., i.e. Sir Walter Kirkham Blount. English and Latin in double columns. The engravings are full-page illustrations, some after Wenceslaus Hollar. Text continuous despite pagination. ESTC r1821.

Copy Notes Imperfect; wanting four engravings, to face p. 1 (leaf A1), p. 169 (leaf L5 = pp. 167--8,), p. 303 (leaf T8 = pp. 301--2, ) and p. 367 (unnumbered leaf Aa1). This must be the 'Fine Copy, Gilt Leaves, Clasps' bought from A.W. Barlace (q.v.) with five other works for £5 5s. on 9 November 1826. (Priv. Corr. XVI.E.6.10). A bill for a 'Missal Romanum' bought from J. Williams for £1 10s., April 1831 may refer to a second copy of this work. (Priv. Corr. XVI.E.7.14). However, no such copy or other work with a similar title can now be identified in Soane's Library.

Binding C19th calf, blind-tooled borders and central lozenge, gilt-lettered spine, brass clasps (lower cover) and clasps (upper cover), gilt edges.
