Lugt 9387. The catalogue as originally issued, represented by Soane copy 2, contained only 142 lots in 27, [1] pages, an omission corrected in later copies by a cancel bifolium D2. Soane was one of the principal buyers at the sale of Robert Adam's library, his purchases accounting for over £260 of £795 0s. 6d. fetched for the 160 lots at the sale. Among the items bought by Soane were numerous architectural drawings including the Vasari Album (SM Vol. 132; see Fairbairn, Italian Renaissance drawings, vol. 2, pp. 390-507) and thirty-three printed works, but not the fifty-three folio volumes of nearly nine thousand Adam drawings now in the Soane Museum, which were purchased in 1833 from the trustees of the estate. Copy Notes Copy 1: Inscribed in ink on title-page John Soane / May 1818. Many items marked in ink, prices in pencil against many lots. Soane acquired 33 books at this sale. Bound after copy 2 in a collection of sale catalogues.
Copy 2: This is a copy of the first issue having 27, [1] pages (142 lots), and is inscribed in ink on title-page There are about 30 architectural Books which / have been accidentally omitted in this Catalogue /. which will be sold at the Sale & added in a new / Catalogue to be out immediately. Bound first, before copy 1, in a collection of sale catalogues.

Binding Later C19th half green binder's cloth, marbled-paper boards. Two copies bound together.
