Edited by Horace Walpole. Advertisement on final page. The catalogue of the collection of the Duke of Buckingham includes that portion of the collection of the 1st Duke of Buckingham which was inherited by the 2nd Duke and sold by him while in exile in Antwerp. Bathoe bought the manuscript at the Vertue sale on 18 March 1757, together with those of the catalogues of the collections of Charles I and James II which were published in 1757 and 1758 respectively, also with introductions by Walpole.
