Lugt 13615. Lot 399 is 'The works of Sir John Soane, Esq. proofs and etchings, and illustrated with many of the original drawings in detail, as also many UNPUBLISHED PLATES'. Coney, an engraver, had been commissioned by Soane to prepare plates for his Designs for public improvements in London and Westminster, 1827 (q.v.) and A brief statement of the proceedings respecting the new Law Courts at Westminster, 1828 (q.v.). See also correspondence in the Soane archive. (Priv. Corr. I.C.17).

Copy Notes Markings in ink against several lots, including lot 399 (see Notes above). Bound in a collection of sale catalogues of 'Articles Of Virtu', 1833 to 1836. A draft of Soane's reply dated 12 July 1834 to a communication from Mr. Newman apparently relating to the engravings and sketches from Mr Coney's Sale is preserved in the archive. (Priv. Corr. XVI.F.140).

Binding Later C19th half calf, maroon binder's cloth boards. Numbered '23' in a series of sale catalogue volumes.
