The Society of Arts founded in 1821 had supplanted the Academy Arts founded in 1814 (q.v.). Soane exhibited four items: article 350, 'A Design for completing the South Side of Downing-place, ...'; article 368, 'Design for a National Entrance into the Metropolis'; article 382, 'A Bird's-eye View of a Design for a Palace'; and article 384, 'Design for a Portico of a Palace, with the Carriage Entrance on an inclined Plane'.
