[An election ball, in poetical letters from Mr. Inkle, at Bath, to his wife at Glocester. 1779?]

[London?]: [printed for J. Dodsley], [1779?].
[5--7], 8--21, [1] p. ; 25.2 cm. (4°)

First published in 1776. Possibly the fourth edition 'London: printed for J. Dodsley, 1779' (ESTC n47663). The final letter is dated 'Dec. 6, 1775'. In the first and most later editions the 'Election Ball' comes first with a full title-page reading An election ball, in poetical letters from Mr. Inkle, at Bath, to his wife at Glocester: with a poetical address to John Miller, Esq. at Batheaston Villa and imprint. The Soane copy, like the one in the British Library (11658.h.1.(8) reported as the fifth edition with copper plates, is lacking a title-page. 'The First Ode Of The First Book Of Horace' is addressed to John Miller and is accompanied by a parallel text in Latin. NCBEL II, col. 638.

Binding C18th half sprinkled calf, marbled-paper boards, gilt-tooled spine, green morocco spine label gilt-lettered 'Poems'. Later numbered '107' in a series of pamphlet volumes.
