Drop-head title. The first part, The anatomy of the bones and muscles, was published by subscription in 1825. The second part, pertaining to the anatomy of muscles, contains 16 lithograph plates by W.H. Fairland and J.W. Newcombe from drawings by W. H. Brooke and J.T. Wedgwood. The specimen list of subscribers of the second part gives Wedgwood's address as Paris.

Copy Notes Copy 1: With an ALs in ink dated April 2nd. 1828 tipped in from the author, soliciting Soane's agreement to join with other Royal Academicians in becoming a subscriber. Bound (2) in a collection of pamphlets.
Copy 2: Bound after copy 1. Inscribed in ink on verso of plate in Soane's hand Mr. Simpson / Anatomy / 2.2.0 / 14 April / 1828. However, no copy of Simpson's Anatomy is now in Soane's library.

Binding C19th half dark green roan, blind double-rule borders, marbled paper boards, gilt double-rule spine gilt-lettered 'Martin's New Inventions &c. &c. &c.'. Bound by Edwin Hutchinson for 3s., 17 December 1830, 'Half roan, lettered'. (Archives 7/15/8).
