A livre de fête recording the festival structures, decorations and river illuminations designed by Gabriel, Servandoni and Salley on the occasion of the marriage of the eldest daughter of Louis XV to Don Felipe, younger son of King Philip V of Spain and later Duke of Parma. The plates are signed 'J.F. Blondel', probably Jean-François Blondel (1681--1756), uncle of the better known Jacques-François (1705--1774), who was commissioned by the Ville de Paris for two later works produced to commemorate the marriages of the Dauphin Louis (father of Louis XVI) first to Maria Theresa of Spain in 1745 (q.v.), and later to Maria Josepha of Saxony in 1747 (q.v.). Binding C18th red morocco, gilt roll-tooled borders and fleur de lys corner-pieces, both covers with gilt-tooled naval emblem incorporating fleurs de lys and scallop shells, gilt-tooled spine compartments with fleur de lys.
