The two parts of volume II were issued together in 1745, with separate title-pages, pagination and register and the imprints reading: printed for the author, by W. Bowyer. Pococke's work, based on his travels in Europe and North Africa between 1733 and 1742, was influential for showing the first detailed images of buildings such as the ruins at Baalbek and Athens. The plates in vol. I numbered I--XXXII, XXXIV--LXXVI. BAL, Early printed books, no. 4061; ESTC n66300.

Copy Notes Bound in three volumes, with a copy of Pococke's Inscriptionum antiquarum ... liber, 1752 (q.v.) bound after volume II, part 2. Bought from Robert Faulder on 8 January 1807 for 18s. (Spiers Box. Misc. Booksellers).

Binding C18th half red sheep, marbled-paper boards, gilt-lettered spine.
