The first report was published in 1796, the year in which the Committee was appointed under the chairmanship of Sir William Young after a petition from the City for the much needed improvement of the London docks. The second report was published in July 1799 (q.v.) with the announcement that 'The several Plans and Drawings referred to ... will be delivered, sewed up together, as soon as they are completed'. A scheme for remodelling Legal Quays by Soane's former master George Dance the younger (cf. plate X) was never realized. A third and final report was published in 1800 (q.v.). Binding Copy 1: Original C19th blue paper wrappers, white paper spine, printed title-labels for the drawings of the respective second and the third reports attached to the upper wrapper, clumsily repaired with C20th tape.
Copy 2: C19th grey paper boards, original printed title-labels for the drawings of the respective second and the third reports attached to the upper cover. Bound by Edwin Hutchinson 'elephant folio b[oar]ds' for 12s. 6d., 3 February 1831 (Archives 7/15/22 binding).
