Folded half-sheet. Drop-head title. 'The Object Of This Bank is to receive and invest in Government Securities, such small sums as Tradesmen, Mechanics, Labourers, Servants, and others may be enabled to save, and to afford them the advantages of Security And Interest'. A report of the provisional committee for the purpose of establishing the bank in Soane's archives is dated February 1817 (q.v.).

Copy Notes Two copies survive in Soane's archive accompanied by other printed papers respecting the institution and an ALs in ink, dated 11 April 1817 and signed by H.W. Smith, one of the Bank's managers, inviting Soane to give the Bank his ... powerful recommendation / and support, particularly amongst those / of the labouring class, who are your / immediate dependents. (Archives 7/N/5/9).
