Drop-head title. Docket-title reads '1822. Prospectus of the new Surrey Institution ...'. The financial predicament of the Surry Institution, founded in 1808, had become clear as early as 1813 when 'a sub-committee to take into consideration the best mode of placing the Institution upon a solid foundation' had begun to canvas the membership as to how best to proceed (q.v.). The new scheme hoped to retain the interest of existing proprietors and to strengthen their endeavours with new objects including the consolidation of circulating and reference libraries and laboratories. The Surry Institution was dissolved the following year.

Copy Notes Enclosed in the notice of the meeting held on 28 June 1822 to resolve on the formation of the new institution (q.v.).
