FREEMASONS' MAGAZINE
Freemasons' Magazine: or, general and complete library. Vol. II, no. 1, January 1794.
London (Place), 1794.
21.6 cm. (8°)

Pages 31--36 only of the January 1794 issue of the Freemasons' Magazine, a monthly magazine published between June 1793 and December 1796 (vol. VII). It was succeeded by The Scientific Magazine and Free-Masons Repository (vol. VIII) in January 1797. This issue includes articles 'On the Nature of Design and decoration in Architecture' and 'On Gothic Architecture' signed 'Burlington'. The registers of Freemasons' Hall start only in 1758 and there are no records confirming Richard Boyle, 3rd Earl of Burlington as a Freemason. Many articles in the masonic magazines of the period were printed over pseudonyms so it is still to be investigated whether the articles are drawn from Lord Burlington's writings or not.

Copy Notes Imperfect.

Binding Paper, pinned.

Reference Number 5900

Additional Names Freemasons' magazine (London: England): 1793--97
