'Altered from the Exeter-hall Society of Architects, to whose rules the framers of these are greatly indebted'. Subsequently reissued with a printed 'List of Officers and Committee, First Session, 1836' on verso of title-page (q.v.). A report of the 'meeting of junior architects and engineers, held December 3, 1835, for the purpose of taking into consideration the propriety of establishing a society of young architects and engineers' is also in the Soane Museum (q.v.). On 10 February 1836 Soane was approached by the secretary, Joseph Boult, inviting him to let his name go forward as an Honorary Member of the fledgling Society. (Priv. Corr.V.E.4.1). A draft of Soane's reply dated 7 March accedes to the invitation and requests information on the Society's progress. (Priv. Corr.V.E.4.4).
