The Institution was founded in 1819 and the success of its exhibitions was such that by 1826, and in collaboration with other organisations, it established new premises on 13 February 1826, a fact alluded to in the Report. Also in the Report is a reference to the preparation of a Royal Charter 'now passing through the official forms'.
