Drop-head title with the name of the Society in a woodcut seal. Final verso blank. The Society was founded in 1821 by the flamboyant medical entrepreneur John Frost (1803–1840), with the object of 'promoting, by means of Experiments and Lectures, the Sciences of Medical Botany, Pharmaceutic Chemistry, and Materia Medica.'

Copy Notes Previously folded and inscribed by Soane on blank verso Medico-Botanical / Soiety / Aug: 1827. Accompanied by a lithographic covering letter signed by 'Richd: Morris, Secy.' and dated in MS. 4th July 1827 presenting the Prospectus and inviting Soane to become a member. Soane received his certificate of membership dated 9 November 1827 in due course (Priv. Corr. V.D.6.2).
