Drop-head title. The Lord Lieutenant, the Duke of Portland, signs himself 'Scott Titchfield'. The purport of his letter is the fact that the 'number of the volunteer corps of Middlesex already equals that to which they are limited' and the Artists are to be thanked for their proposal earlier that month to form themselves into a volunteer corps (q.v.) but stood down for the time-being.
