Proposed plan for the establishment of a medical department, in the Royal Belfast Academical Institution.

The plan was proposed by Mr. Robert J. Tennant at a meeting of the joint boards of managers and visitors held on 6 December 1831, when it was resolved to distribute copies of the plan to the members of the boards and to 'the most eminent medical men in the United Kingdom, requesting the favor of their opinions and advice on the subject. In recognition. Soane had drawn up designs for the building of the Belfast Academical Institution, for which he declined payment, in consequence of which he was admitted to "all the rights and privileges enjoyed by subscribers of one hundred guineas" in July 1809 (q.v.); however, the version of his plans was much modified.
