Drop-head title. An episode in the contention known as the 'Liverpool Rebellion'. Concerns a dispute with the Board of General Purposes over its failure to forward business to the United Grand Lodge, and contentions amongst the Provincial lodges of Lancashire with representations made by Lodge 31, under suspension by the Deputy Provincial Grand Master (Daniel Lynch) addressed to Francis Duckinfield Astley, signed by Thomas Page and others. Includes a 'Copy Of The Address. To His Royal Highness Prince Augustus Frederic, Duke Of Sussex, ...', signed by the Provincial Grand Officers, on p. [2]. With printed address on blank p. [4] 'To the W. Master and Brethren of the Lodge of Free Masons, No. [ ]' and '(Single Sheet.)'.
Copy Notes The address has been made out in ink with the Lodge number 210 / Thatched House Tavern / St. James' St / London, and Freemasons Tavern. With postmark 'Liverpool 2 De 1821'. Lodge No. 313, established in 1764, met at the Thatched Tavern from 1767 and was renumbered 210 in 1814. In 1824 it was united with Alpha Lodge No. 16 to become Royal Alpha Lodge No. 16.
