[Appendix to the Votes and proceedings of the House of Commons] 8º die Julii, 1828.

Running title: '8º die Julii, 1828. [Appendix, Votes, &c.]'. Three copies of a fragmentary extract of an appendix to the Votes and proceedings of the House of Commons for 8 July 1828, listing petitions presented to the House, retained for 'No. 1517', p. 968, being 'Petition of Attornies, &c. respecting Courts of Justice, Westminster' (side note caption): 'A petition of several Attornies and Solicitors practising in His Majesty's Superior Courts at Westminster, was presented, and read; setting forth, That the plan adopted in the construction of the Court of King's Bench at Westminster is essentially defective, ...'. The Petition concerned the lack of amenities in the new Law Courts, and a copy of a later petition on behalf of the Metropolitan Law Society whose Petition is available in the Soane library and archive (q.v.). Soane printed his own observations in A brief statement of the proceedings respecting the new Law Courts at Westminster for private distribution in 1828 (q.v.), an expanded version of which was later published by Priestley and Weale (q.v.).

July 1828, signed by BCStephenson, the Surveyor-General of the Office of Works, with paper wrapper addressed Private / John Soane Esqre / &c &c &c / Lincoln's Inn Fields, red seal. Underlinings in ink.
Copy 3: 34.3 cm. Imperfect; wanting all but pp. 965--972. Bound (11) in a collection assembled by A.T. Bolton (7th curator) of material relating to the New Law Courts and the petition for the alteration of the Court of King's Bench in March 1829 (q.v.).
