Drop-head title. The first of two lectures delivered by the singer Thomas Philipps at the Freemasons Hall in Dublin in January 1824 and reviewed in the Irish Times for 16 January 1824 (q.v.). The second lecture (q.v.) took place later the same month.

Copy Notes Accompanied by the syllabus of the second lecture (q.v.) and an ALs addressed to Soane, dated Dublin Jany 22, in which Philipps alludes to having sent a Dublin paper containing one/ of many reports of the 1st/ of the Two lectures you did/ me the favor of talking about/ with me last autumn in/ London, sets out his intention to give a concert at/ one of the summer theatres [in London] and seeks Soane's support in arranging to repeat the lectures at the Royal Insti=/tution before I appeared on/ the stage. Six copies of an undated bifolium advertising both Lectures are also in the Soane Museum (q.v.).
