Drop-head title. Verso blank. Newspaper extract from the Morning Post, on the occasion of Soane's purchase of the Sarcophagus from Mr. Salt when the Trustees of the British Museum had finally declined to buy it. Possibly printed off for Soane by his close friend John Taylor, editor of The Sun newspaper from 1813 to 1825, who may be responsible for another extract from the Morning Post preserved in Soane's archive (q.v.) as well as for similarly printed sonnets and other on Soane's lectures (q.v.), his Pitt cenotaph at the National Debt Redemption Office (q.v.; q.v.), and defending him from anonymous assailants (q.v.).

Copy Notes Nine copies, almost certainly presented by the author, are in Soane's archives.
