These six plates joined side-by-side form the composite image of stone map, at the top of which the title appears in a tablet, and at the lefthand side a dedication by Francesco Piranesi to Stanislaus I, King of Poland. The margin includes an engraved index to the map and a notice 'Avvertimento all Lettore' signed at the foot 'Francesco Piranesi Incisore di S. M. il Re di Polonia & Architetto Romano disegnò ed incise nel 1781.'
Copy Notes Copy 1: Bound as six separate sheets in a collection of items engraved by Francesco Piranesi appended to Giovanni Battista Piranesi's Differentes vues [Rome, 1778] (q.v.).
Copy 2: Assembled into a single sheet.
Binding Copy 1: C19th half diced calf, gilt roll-tooled borders, marbled-paper boards, marbled edges, gilt-tooled spine, gilt lettered 'Colonna/ Traiano/ Pesto Adriana/ Pompei, &c.' Uniformly bound with Vedute di Roma [1747--1787] (q.v.) and Vasi candelabri cippi... [1778--1791] (q.v.).
