Tribute of respect from the British Architects. To Sir John Soane

Ticket lithographed by 'R. J. L' for the presentation by the Institute of British Architects of the Gold Medal on 24 March 1835 (q.v.), for which printed subscription papers were issued in February 1834 (q.v.) and March 1834 (q.v.). The ticket was designed by the treasurer of the institute, John Goldicutt, who also designed the decorations of the Freemasons' Hall on the occasion. See A.T. Copy Notes Copy 1: With a red wax seal bearing an image of the Colosseum. Inscribed in ink under Soane's name F.R.S. R.A. F.S.A.; signed in ink John Goldicutt/Treasr. and numbered No. 1.
Copy 2: Similarly inscribed in ink, numbered No 50 and with the same red wax seal. Tipped into an album of 'Newspaper Cuttings of Sir John's own Time', probably assembled by A.T. Bolton, seventh curator of the Museum, after 1906.
