Title taken from Bolton's MS. catalogue of Soane's library. A folio album containing 124 miscellaneous prints and fly-bills of caricatures, mostly etched and hand-coloured, some with letterpress text; four are lithographs. Almost all are English and dated between 1770 and 1830; three are French, one is Dutch. There is one unsigned watercolour drawing of a legless man in a blue coat and top hat, being drawn in a cart by two dogs.

Copy Notes Loosely inserted are three earlier engravings, cropped and mounted on light card, with captions in French or Dutch as follows: 'Qualis vir Talis Oratio', 'L'Epiphane du Nouveau Antichrist.. 1680' and 'Arlequin Deodta, et Pamirge Hypochondriaques.'

Binding C19th half dark green roan, gilt triple-rule borders, gilt-tooled spine, marbled-paper boards, with gilt-lettered leather label on upper cover reading 'Miscellaneous Humorous Caricatures Coloured' and spine gilt-lettered 'Humorous Coloured Caricatures'.
