This first edition is based on the unpublished Brief statement of the proceedings respecting the new law courts at Westminster (q.v.). A second edition was published in 1828 (q.v.). The text and plates of the first edition were prepared during the summer of 1827 and printed by James Moyes in September of that year in an edition of 25 copies for presentation to selected individuals and learned institutions. The Soane archive contains letters of thanks from 20 recipients. (Priv.$Corr. XVI.D.1(1-20)). The British Library copy was presented to the Duke of Sussex. The plates are unlettered. Binding C19th quarter black roan, russet brown paper boards, spine gilt-ruled and gilt-lettered 'Designs For Public Improvemts.' and 'London 1827'. Bound by Hood & McCullock, 22 September 1827. (Priv.$Corr XVI.E.6.14).
