Drop-head title. The Address is signed S. Hamilton and dated January 1, 1804, with a note that 'S. Hamilton ... is now re-established in the printing business at No. 38, Shoe-lane, Fleet-street.' The first series of The Critical Review, edited by Tobias Smollett and others, first appeared as a bimonthly issue for January-February 1756 and thereafter monthly from March 1756 to June 1817. The second series ran from January 1791 to December 1803. The third series announced by the present advertisement, 'printed on an entirely New Type', ran from January 1804 ('Will be published on the 1st of February.') to December 1811. It was followed by a fourth and fifth series published from January 1812 to December 1814 and January 1815 to June 1817 respectively. See ESTC p2120.
