French translation of: Nette afbeeldingen der eygene dragten van alle geestelijke vrouwen en nonnen-orders, 1691. The added etched title-page has title: Histoire de la fondation avec les habits des ordres des femmes et filles religieuses. The two unnumbered illustrations are an etched title-page vignette and an etched drop-head title on p. [1] which includes an etched figurative initial. The remaining illustrations are 91 full-page etchings printed on the rectos to face the descriptive text on the versos. The etchings are numbered 1--90 with an additional unnumbered plate captioned 'Abbatissa Sti Cassiani' printed on p. [133]. The text ends on p. '194' [i.e. 184] and the verso of pl. 90 is blank. The final four leaves contain an index of the text in French and an index of the plates in Latin. Almost all signatures are signed only on the verso of the final leaf of the gathering. Page 70 misnumbered 74; pp. 180-184 misnumbered 190-194. The final leaf (N2) is blank.

Copy Notes Some plates misbound at the end of part 2. Inscribed in ink on letterpress title-page and again on the final page Ex libris Horsbrugh. Bound after a copy of the companion work on male religious orders, Courte & solide histoire de la fondation des ordres religieux, 1688 (q.v.). Volume front free-endpaper inscribed in pencil - 10.6, bookseller's code on rear pastedown.

Binding C18th hairsheep, gilt-ruled borders and spine, red morocco spine-label.
