Drop-head title. Pages 2--4 have running title 'Plan Of The Pocket Library.' Charles Cooke extended the formula of illustrated pocket editions previously used by John Bell in his Poets of Great Britain series (109 vols, 1776--82) to publish series of uniform pocket editions in other genres such as 'British Classics', 'Sacred Classics', novels and plays, all 'Superbly Embellished'.
Copy Notes Bound as issued at the end of Cooke's pocket edition of Elizabeth Rowe, Friendship in death, [1800?] (q.v.). Rear pastedown inscribed in pencil 6/4.
