A further continuation of The English rogue described (1772 ed., q.v.), a picaresque narrative by Richard Head first published in 1665. The bookseller Francis Kirkman, having acquired the rights to the original work, brought out further editions and pressed Head to write a continuation. When Head declined, Kirkman wrote three further parts which were published in 1671. Although Head denied his authorship of the continuations, in all likelihood there was collaboration, and the preface to the 1671 edition of part 4 was signed by both. A fifth part was added to a an edition printed for J. Back, London, 1688 (ESTC r30761). Each plate is divided into six images numbered 1--6, 7--12, 13--18 and 19--24. ESTC r40139.
