Nouuellement imprimees a Paris (Place), par Gillet Hardouyn Imprimeur demourant au bout du pont nostre Dame deuant Sainct Denis de la chartre: a lenseigne de la Rose,, [1512].

Imprint from colophon, which reads: 'Ces presentes Heures a lusaige de Romme tout au long sans riens requerir: nouuellement imprimees ...'. Printed on vellum; black letter with illuminated and hand-coloured initials in imitation of manuscript, and linebreaks in gold, red and blue. Signatures: a-l

Copy Notes Four devotional woodcuts, hand-coloured, laid down on front and rear pastedowns depicting the Flagellation, the Virgin Mary, the Crucifixion and the Descent from the Cross. Printed shelf-label 'E' with 352 added in ink on front pastedown; also other shelf-marks in ink. Retained vellum front and rear flyleaves from an earlier binding, the second front leaf inscribed on the recto Ces Heures m'ont esté données/ par Madame de Tran le 9.e/ jour d'Aoust 1660. A small number of early marginalia in ink, cropped in rebinding.

Binding C16th/C17th red velvet, both covers with silver centre-plates engraved with unidentified armorial device (?); corner-plates engraved with a ram's head and snails, a rabbit, an owl with four songbirds, and a head; engraved silver clasps engraved with initials or syllable 'RON' and a head on the upper cover and 'FER' and 'MA' on the lower cover with catches in the shape of hands. The paper endleaves have a watermark of a hand with a fleur-de-lys at the fingertips, not in Heawood.
