The fourth volume in an annual publication consisting of biographies of famous English and some American men (and one woman), of the day, which commenced publication with a volume for 1798 which had reached its third edition in 1801 (q.v.). The biographies are largely attributed to Alexander Stephens; the portraits are of John Horne Tooke, Arthur Young, Dr. Beattie and Dr. Rees. 'Price Half a Guinea in Boards' at foot of title-page. With a final leaf of publisher's advertisements.

Copy Notes Bound as vol. IV in a set with the volumes for 1798--9 (q.v.), 1799--1800 (q.v.), and 1800--1801 (q.v.); the volume for 1802--1803 was evidently bound separately to match, as vol. V (q.v.).
