Varietà de prospetti vedvti nella chiesa catthedrale del regio castello di Cracovia.
[Cracoviæ]:, In officina viduæ & hæredum Andreæ Petric: S.R.M. typogr.,, Anno D. 1649.
[8] p. ; 19.2 cm. (4º)

A description of the funeral ceremonies arranged in Cracow in January 1649 for King Vladislav IV of Poland and the coronation of his successor John II Kazimir by Giovanni Battista Gisleni (1600--1672). Gisleni, an Italian architect, musician and theatre designer to the Waza Court in Cracow, was noted as a director and designer of ephemeral decorations such as those described in the present pamphlet, which was printed according to the unsigned printer's dedication on the title-page verso to satisfy the demands of spectators. Gisleni's architectural and decorative oeuvre is chiefly known from 12 drawings in the Castello Sforzesco, Milan; a sketchbook in the Kupferstichkabinett, Dresden; and a bound volume of 116 drawings preserved in the Soane Museum, containing designs for buildings in Poland, particularly in Cracow, Varii disegni d’architettura inventati e delineati da Gio: Gisleni Romano ..., with which this pamphlet is bound. (See SM Concise Catalogue of Drawings, Vol 121).

Copy Notes Bound in at the end of the volume of drawings by Gisleni.

Binding C17th gilt-panelled goatskin.
