Half-title reads 'Observations, &c. &c.' 1822 was a year of famine in Ireland after widespread failure of the crops in 1821. The Earl of Blessington and second Viscount Mountjoy was an Irish political connection of Soane's former client, the Marquess of Abercorn.

Copy Notes A textual omission is supplied in ink on p. 46, signed /B/. Inscribed in ink on the half-title John Soane Esq RA / from the Author. With ALS dated July 1, 1822 returning a copy of an unspecified book loaned by Soane and sending Soane his copy of a draft of a pamphlet issued by the Society for Bettering the Condition of the Poor in Ireland, 1822 (q.v.), in which Soane is listed as a subscribing member (at £5:5:0). Both the letter and the pamphlet are tipped in at the back of the book.

Binding C19th publisher's grey paper boards, printed paper spine-label giving the price '5s.'.
