With a list of the governors and annual benefactors for 1798. Soane's name is included in the list of governors. Soane's interest in hospitals and asylums had a professional as well as a philanthropic character, and as a pupil in the office of George Dance the Younger he had worked on his master's design for the hospital's new premises and the Finsbury estate.
