First edition 1772. The historical account is by the merchant and philanthropist Jonas Hanway who was also a supporter of numerous charities including the Magdalen Hospital for Penitent Prostitutes (q.v.). Samuel Glasse's sermon was preached at St Andrew's, Holborn, on 10th February 1774.

Binding C19th tree calf, spine gilt-tooled with naval motifs, gilt-lettered 'Bye Laws'.
