Anonymous. Attributed to Sir John Barrow; also sometimes ascribed to Richard Alfred Davenport. Forms no. XXXV of Murray's (later Tegg's) 'Family Library'. Frontispiece engraving of Peter the Great by J.C. Edwards. The final leaf contains a list of 'Works Published by Mr. Murray, ...'.
Copy Notes Publisher's printed slip dated 20 October 1832 tipped in at the front, announcing the publication of the present work and advertising that 'Mr. Murray, having received some works of great interest, takes this opportunity of announcing his intention of adding a few more volumes to the Family Library.'. A printed leaf dated 1 August 1832 (q.v.), announcing the completion of the series in thirty-six volumes, had been issued with no. XXXIII of the series. Bookseller's label on first pastedown reading 'Sold by T. & W. Boone'.
Binding Publisher's grey cloth with title printed on upper cover: 'The Family Library. No. XXXV. Peter the Great. ...'; and list of titles on lower cover; spine with printed series title 'Peter the Great. 5s. Family Library. No. XXXV.'
