Imprint of 'Robson and Co., 46, St Martin's Lane' on verso of half-title and at end. Without the final leaf of advertisements present in the British Library copy. Chapman was the author of Barbadoes, and other Poems, 1833, and published translations of the Greek pastoral poets.

Copy Notes Imperfect; wanting the half-title. Inscribed in ink on third free-endpaper To Sir John Soane / Architect, &c. &c. / From his grateful / and obedient servant, / G.C. Levey, / Of whose printing press this is / the first production. G.C. Levey was in partnership with Robson and Franklyn at Robson's premises in St Martin's Lane. The firm subsequently printed Soane's Description of the house and museum ..., 1835--36 (q.v.).

Binding C19th dark green moiré silk, gilt-tooled foliate borders and spine lettering, gilt text block edges.
