Uniform with the 1830 edition of his Italy (q.v.), and similarly illustrated with steel-engraved head and tail-pieces by W. Finden, W. Miller, E. Goodall, H. Le Keux, R. Wallis, D. Allen, F. Engleheart and J.H. Watt after J.M.W. Turner, T. Stothard, J. Flaxman, Il Parmigianino and J. Callot. All the steel-engraved vignettes in the Soane copy are proof impressions. Like Soane, Rogers was a collector of antiquities and art, which he displayed in his house at St. James's Street, Westminster; one poem in this volume, 'An Epistle to a Friend', celebrates connoisseurship; his best-known poem was 'The Pleasures of Memory', which was praised by Lord Byron. Printer's imprint of Bradbury and Evans (late T. Davison), London, on the half-title verso. The final page advertises 'By The Same Author, And Illustrated In The Same Manner, Italy. A Poem. In One Volume Octavo, Price 1l. 8s.'.

Copy Notes Without the frontispiece portrait of Rogers recorded in some other copies. With a four-page list of Edward Moxon's recent publications bound at end (q.v.). Some tissue paper guards. Untrimmed edges. Later signatures unopened. Inscribed in ink on front free-endpaper From the Author. A draft of Soane's letter of acknowledgement dated 14 January 1834 for the present of your delightful / Poems, so beautifully illustrated by / those eminent Artists Stothard & / Turner survives in Soane's archive; Soane goes on to mention the great / satisfaction I feel in seeing such a / rare union of talent as the volume / exhibits, tho I must add I am one / of those who consider that the Poems / little needed such embellishment / to attract general attention and / admiration. (Priv. Corr. XVI.F.127). The copy of Rogers' Italy (q.v.) may have been presented on the same occasion.
