William Woodfall, journalist and editor of the Whig newspaper The Morning Chronicle, was known as 'Memory' Woodfall for the fullness and accuracy of his parliamentary reporting. This is the first of Woodfall's compilations, eventually totalling 33 volumes. In 1802 the title changed to The Parliamentary register; or an impartial report of the debates that have occurred in the two Houses of Parliament, and publication ceased in 1804, a year after Woodfall's death. The frontispiece portraits in the first three volumes are of William Pitt, Charles James Fox, and Richard Brinsley Sheridan. The title-pages of volumes II--IV read as above to '... Parliament, In the course of the Fourth Session of the Seventeenth Parliament of Great Britain, called to meet at Westminster, on Tuesday the 21st of January 1794. ...'. ESTC t154544.
