Anonymous. By William Thomson. The dedication is signed 'T. Newte', and dated 'Tiverton, Devon, June 1, 1791'. First published in 1789, in shorter form, under the title: Tour in England and Scotland, by an English gentleman. William Thomson was a Scottish failed clergyman turned writer who published a variety of memoirs, biographies, travel books, philosophical novels, treatises and pamphlets, under his own name and many different pseudonyms including 'Thomas Newte'. Pages 177--184 are repeated; text and register are continuous. Page 260 misnumbered 062. Errata: p. [vi]. ESTC t1309.
