To which are prefixed lists of the last and present parliaments: shewing the changes made by the general elections in 1806 and 1807; with the names of the candidates, and the decisions since made by the select committees. Also, the dates when each city and borough first sent representatives to Parliament, the right of election in each select place, and the supposed number of voters. Likewise, a summary account of the duties of the great officers of State; a table of the duration of the several Parliaments from Henry VII. to the present time; a list of those places which formerly sent members to Parliament, with a list of the deaths of the principal ministers during the present reign. To this edition are added, an alphabetical table of boroughs, &c. over which particular persons are supposed to have influence; and a complete abstract of the election-laws.

The editions for 1809 and 1810 only, the latter being apparently a reissue of the sheets of the previous edition (142 p.) with new title-page and final leaf. Issued from 1773 (with variations in the title) to accompany almanacs such as The Royal Kalendar and The London calendar.

Copy Notes The 1809 edition is bound (3) after The Royal Kalendar for the same year (q.v.); the 1810 edition after The British Imperial Calendar for the same year (q.v.). In both volumes the New companion is additionally preceded by the corresponding edition of Rider's British Merlin (q.v.).
