First published in 1787. François Amboise's edition of Petri Abaelardi et Heloisae conjugis ejus opera was first published in 1616. 'The Letters Of Abeillard and Heloisa; ...' has special dated title-page and half-title, and the text in English and Latin. With a final publishers' advertisement leaf for other books by Berington, a Roman Catholic priest and religious controversialist.
Copy Notes Front pastedown inscribed in pencil with the price =9s=, and bookseller's code xεf (probably Thomas Boone's) on rear pastedown.
Binding C18th half russia, blue paper boards, gilt-ruled spine.
