Pieces relatives a Bélisaire. Premier cahier. (-- Cinquiéme cahier.)
A Amsterdam [i.e. Paris?]:, [printed by Le Prieur for Merlin?],, 1767.
[6], 19, [1]; [2], 13, [1]; [2], 17, [1], 21, [1]; [2], 46, [2]; 15, [1] p. ; 19.3 cm. (8º)

Five cahiers of short pieces by Voltaire, Turgot and Marmontel, collected by Voltaire, with separate register and pagination. Issued in response to attacks on J.F. Marmontel's Bélisaire (q.v.), and to the attempt to censure it by the Faculty of Theology of the Sorbonne. A thorough discussion of the affair is found in John Redwick's Marmontel, Voltaire and the Bélisaire affair, Studies on Voltaire and the Eighteenth Century 121 (1974). The second, third and fourth cahiers have title-pages with imprint 'A Geneve.'; the fifth has a drop-head title. The first two cahiers additionally have half-titles, both bound here at the start of the work. The 3e cahier title-leaf is correction pasted down on the original leaf erroneously reading 'Premier Cahier'.
