Compiled by Madame Riccoboni. A different compilation than that published under the same title with a false London imprint in 1767 (q.v.). 'Avec Approbation & Privilège du Roy'. Volume I, p. [406] has printer's imprint of Quillau, 1769 at foot of the Approbation; the final leaf contains a 'Catalogue de théâtres & livres d'amusement, qui se trouvent chez Humblot, Libraire, ...'. Verso of half-title of vol. II advertises 'Œuvres de Madame Riccoboni'. Contents: Vol. I: The foundling or l'Enfant-trouvé, ... par Edward Moore; The way to keep him, ou la Façon de le fixer, ... par M. Murphy. --- Vol. II: False delicacy, ou la Fausse délicatesse, ... par Hugh Kelly; The jealous wife, ou la Femme jalouse, ... par George Colman; The Deuce is in him, ou Il est possédé, ... [par George Colman].

Copy Notes With bookseller's ticket pasted onto the first pastedown: 'Se vend à Metz, chez Marchal, Libraire & Relieur, ci-devant rue Pierre-Hardie, présentement rue des Petites-Tapes, ...'. Inscription in ink on free-endpapers: D 102 Nº 7; similar inscriptions appear in the Soane copy of the 1767 compilation of the same title (q.v.), and in one copy of the original collection of Le théâtre anglois, 1746--9 (q.v.).

Binding C18th mottled sheep, gilt-tooled spine compartments, red & olive morocco spine-labels, marbled edges and endpapers.
