The imprint is false; printed in France. Each volume has a half-title reading 'Nouveau Théatre Anglois' and general title-page as above; each play has separate half-title and title-page with imprint 'A Londres, Chez Jean Nourse', and separate pagination and register. Contents: T. I: Le joueur, ... [par Edward Moore]; Le marchand de Londres, ... [par] M. Lillo; L'opera des gueux, ... [par J. Gay]; -- T. II: Barberousse, ... [par John Brown]; Le bijoutier philosophe, ... par M. Dodsley; Le père de Rome, ... par Mr Whitehead; L'anglois à Paris, ... par M. Foote. ESTC t209468.
Copy Notes With bookseller's ticket pasted onto the first pastedown: 'Se vend à Metz, chez Marchal, Libraire & Relieur, ci-devant rue Pierre-Hardie, présentement rue des Petites-Tapes, ...'. Inscription in ink on free-endpapers: D 102 Nº 8; similar inscriptions appear in a later compilation with the same title but different contents dated 1769 (q.v.), and in one copy of the original collection of Le théâtre anglois, 1746--9 (q.v.).
Binding C18th full mottled sheep, gilt-tooled spine compartments, red spine-labels, red edges and marbled endpapers.
